Day 1: LA PAZ – SAJAMA – HOT SPRINGS
We leave La Paz at 8:30 a.m. driving through the highlands to the Western Cordillera, passing through beautiful landscapes of canyons and rivers, also passing archaeological sites like the Chullpas (Tombs of the ancient Aymara culture.) At the town of Curahuraand we visit the Sistine Chapel before continuing on to the village of Sajama. From there we can see various Andean Camelids en route to the camp at the hot springs.
Day 2 GEYSER – LAGUNA SORAPATA
From the camp site, we start the trek to Laguna Sorapata, altitude 4,700m, passing through the Queñuales Andean forest with Andean camelids, and much flora and fauna of the area. Continuing through the Payachatas Sajama mountains, we have many stunning views of the surrounding landscape, and after five to six hours we reach the camp at Laguna Sorapata.
Day 3 LAGUNA SORAPATA – LAGUNA HUAYNA QUTA – LA PAZ.
After breakfasting, we load the animals commence the trek though the beautiful scenery down to Laguna Huayña Quta, altitude 4,350m, inhabited by Andean Pink Flamingos. There transport awaits us for the return journey to Sajama, from where we continue by road, back to the city of La Paz.
