The Columbian El Choro trail has the same characteristics as the Inca Trail at Cuzco, an unforgettable view from the Cordillera Real to the high valleys of the Yungas of Bolivia, characterized by cultivation of the coca leaf.
Day 1. LA PAZ – CHALLAPAMPA
Depart La Paz at 08:00 am with road transport up to La Cumbre. We begin with a short climb up to 4,900m, then descend to Samañapampa, through the village and down to Challapampa Chucuray 3,400 m where we camp for the first night after a total of 6 hour’s trekking.
Day 2. CHALLAPAMPA – SAN FRANCISCO
We leave Challapampa at 8:30 a.m. and in two hours we reach Choro, altitude 2,200 m. Enjoying the beautiful warm weather and lush vegetation, birds, flora and fauna, we reach the second campsite at San Francisco, altitude 2,040m, after about 6 hours.
Day 3. SAN FRANCISCO – COROICO
From San Francisco we continue to Sandillani, where we begin to descend toward Chairo altitude 1,300 m, which we reach ater 4-5 hours walk. From here we take road transport to Coroico and then back to the city of La Paz.
