Day 1. LA PAZ – CONDORIRI
Departure La Paz at 09:00 am. and after two hours and a half by road we arrive at Tuni village, altitude 4,200m where we leave the vehicle.
Then we load the mules with all the camping equipment and begin a three and a half hour trek, arriving at the base camp of Condoriri, altitude 4,700 m. where we rest for the first night.
Day 2.- HIKING PICO AUSTRIA 5.300m.
After breakfast we start hiking to Pico Austria, From the summit we can see all of the Altiplano and Lake Titicaca. Return to the camp for acclimatization and rest
Day 3. CONDORIRI–MARIA LLOCO.
After breakfast at 08:00 am we prepare all the camping equipment, and continue the six hour trek until we reach Maria Lloco, crossing a high pass at 5,100m to arrive the second night’s camp.
Day 4.- MARIA LLOCO – BASE CAMP OF HUAYNA POTOSI.
After breakfast, in two hours of trekking, we arrive at 5,000m pass and continue down the the base camp of Huayna Potosi REFUGE, altitude 4.700m, arriving at around 12:00 noon, where we meet with the climbing guide. After lunch, we hike to the glacier where we will practice ice climbing all afternoon until 5:00pm after that we return to the refuge for dinner and rest.
Day 5 .- BASE CAMP – HIGH CAMP.
After breakfast we begin the hike to the High Camp at 5,200m, and in 3 hours we arrive at the second REFUGE where we have lunch, we rest and acclimatize during the afternoon, and then in the evening eat an early dinner and rest for summit day.
Day 6. HIGH CAMP – SUMMIT – LA PAZ.
At 00:30 am we arise, prepare the climbing equipment and have breakfast. After that we start to climb to the summit of Huayna Potosí, altitude 6,088 m, which we reach in 5 or 6 hours. From the summit we see all the Andes Mountains. Finally, we return to high camp for a one hour rest, and after that descend to the base camp where the transport awaits us to return to La Paz by around 2:00 pm.
