Day 1. LA PAZ – SORATA
At 9:00 a.m. hours we leave La Paz, passing through the beautiful landscape of the Cordillera Real, close to Lake Titicaca, and then through the town of Achacachi, Warisata, where the imposing nevadas of Ancohuma and Illampu and be seen. Then we reach the pass where the beautiful town of Sorata 2.700m can be seen. On arrival we settle in to the Hotel and in the afternoon we make a trek to the Grotto of San Pedro, an abandoned Inca mine, before returning to the Hotel to rest for the night.
Day 2. SORATA – LAGUNA CHILATA
In the morning we set off for Laguna Chilata, altitude 4,200m passing through the beautiful scenery of the high valleys of Sorata: fields of corn and other crops, with a chance to see some Andean fauna. And so we reach Laguna Chilata where we make camp.
Day 3. LAGUNA CHILATA – LAGUNA GLACIAR – LAGUNA CHILATA.
On this day we make an early start, heading for Laguna Glaciar, altitude 5,030m, passing up through abandoned mines, with spectacular views of the mountains and high valleys of the area and thus reach Laguna Glaciar, which offers breathtaking mountain scenery dominated by the huge glacier and the mountain behind it. Then we return by the same route to our camp at Laguna Chilata, a walk which is in total 6-7 hours.
Day 4. LAGUNA CHILATA – SORATA – LA PAZ.
After breakfast we begin the descent back down to the village of Sorata, where we leave the mules and take transport back to La Paz in the afternoon.
